Note: as per the Ministry update on credentialing requirements. All EMS Assessors holding the complex housing credential will have to complete the housing workshop once only; either prior to becoming credentialled, or within three years of becoming credentialled.
About the trainer
David Guest is an Occupational Therapist (OT) with over 30 years of experience, based in Waikato, New Zealand.
David has always worked in the area of housing modifications; as a community OT with the District Health Board, with Enable New Zealand in the administration of funding for housing modifications, and in private practice. Through his career, David has been heavily involved in the development of Ministry policy for housing modifications and OT competency requirements. From 2001 - 2006, David was part of the team closing the Kimberley Centre in Taitoko (Levin) providing 66 modified group houses to residents leaving the institution. David also developed and runs the Show Your Ability roadshow.
As the sole contracted nationwide provider of OT housing modification workshops for Whiakaha Ministry of Disabled People, David has delivered over 60 workshops to more than 800 Occupational Therapists. He has delivered over 30 ACC workshops with overwhelmingly positive responses from participants.
David is in private practice undertaking housing assessments for ACC in the Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty areas.
